Kinetic Installation
wood, concrete blocks, dimensions variable, 2000
This installation was commissioned by the National Touring Exhibitions of Norway. The venue was an old barrel warehouse in the fishing village of Bekkjarvik, just outside of Bergen. The installation consisted of 5 beams of wood, sat on short concrete block pillars. This central axis held 100 lengths of wood, balanced at their centre. The lifting and then dropping of any one of these lengths would create a "see-saw" motion that would last for up to 5 minutes. A documentary video was commissioned to show the creative process of this installation.
