Untitled # 120
Poplar, dimensions variable, 2006
This work was planned and executed specifically for the main exhibition hall at the Musee de Gajac. The work consisted of approximately 1200 lengths of wood. The wood was rough cut and twisted, adding to the sense of precariousness. A doorway was incorporated into the structure to enable the audience to view the interior of the work.
The form has many reference points, including the northern hemisphere, a cave, a cage, the womb, and primitive architecture. This was a rare opportunity for people to enter into a dialogue with the structure and space within the gallery, in the full knowledge that the form will collapse.
