The Centre of France

The geographical centre of France was determined through the use of co-ordinate points for the land mass extremities of France. Once the exact point, locate in an empty field close to the town of Gannat, was identified, I made the journey to this point, accompanied by the residency director and the other residency artist. The newly designed Universal Flag was planted and flown at this geographic point to de-nationalise France and claim it under the concept of universality, much in the same way that the USA planted an american flag on the moon, claiming this, in concept at least, for the USA. The project journey was documented on video and presented during the exhibition.
